Babies can attend Wriggle Monsters sensory classes as early as a few days old. Our classes cater for newborns right through to 13 months old.
The class content is specifically designed to be inclusive for all babies in this age range, regardless of their developmental stage. For instance, at the newborn stage, there is a focus on simple and gentle activities that stimulate your baby's developing senses and encourage exploration and promote bonding.
Not only that, but babies love routine, and this promotes better sleep.
Should I take my baby to sensory classes?
There are so many reasons why classes are great for babies, but not only is it important for them, it’s important for you and your wellbeing, too. Whether it’s through sensory development classes for babies or other baby groups, it’s important to break the isolation that so often comes with maternity leave.
You go from having a routine, a job, and an identity, then BAM! All of a sudden, your sole identity and job title is parent. Adjusting to that is hard, especially in modern times. Our need to connect has never been greater.
Why do babies need sensory activities?
Babies need sensory stimulation because it supports their development and growth in several ways. Some of the benefits of sensory activities in early childhood include:
Stimulating the senses: sensory activities help stimulate a baby's developing senses, such as sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. This helps your baby learn to process and make sense of the world around them.
Encouraging exploration: sensory activities encourage a baby to explore their environment, which helps them develop their problem-solving skills.
Enhancing crucial language and communication skills: sensory activities support a baby's language development by exposing them to different sounds, words, and musical rhythms.
Supporting physical development: sensory activities support a baby's physical development, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills by encouraging movement and coordination through reaching, grabbing, and crawling.
Promoting relaxation and stress relief: sensory activities calm and relax babies, which promotes feelings of wellbeing. It also supports social and emotional development.
Why attend our sensory classes?
We’re a teacher-led class, not parent-led. So, fear not! We’ll never have you sitting around in an awkward silence, waiting for something to happen. We don’t do awkward moments. No round robins, and going round in a circle, taking a moment to introduce ourselves. That’s anxiety-inducing for some.
A Wriggle Monsters class is a place for you to come and relax. We’d never want you to feel as though you’re back at work. Not in a million years.
That’s why thousands of customers have chosen to spend their maternity and paternity leave with us.
